The speaker described recent developments in OFDA's work as well as its objectives in shelter and settlement response. He noted that cities in developing countries will double in population and triple in land area in 20 years, suggesting that many more people will be living in risk areas. Shelter activities still have limited visibility and constituency despite their importance given these facts.
