Three decades of civil war displaced more than two million people from northern and eastern Sri Lanka. UN‐HABITAT having recognized the urgent need to facilitate the IDPs return to habitable homes initiated a dialogue with AusAID who in turn quickly and positively responded by contributing financial aid. The project focused on supporting families to bring damaged houses back in to use at the earliest possible time.
