Qatar Charity inaugurates well to benefits 10,000 people in Palestine

Qatar Charity (QC) inaugurated a well in the Gaza Strip in Palestine, in cooperation with the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), to benefit more than 10,000 people who live west of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. Engineer Marwan Al Bardawil, director of PWA’s Project Coordination Unit, said that this project contributes effectively to covering the water deficit in the western Khan Yunis governorate, praising the cooperation with Qatar Charity to meet the water needs of the residents of the Gaza Strip. He underlined the importance of continuing cooperation with Qatar Charity to implement more developmental projects to improve the standards of living in the Gaza Strip.Mr. Alaeddine El-Batta, mayor of Khan Yunis, emphasized the importance and the need of well-drilling projects, especially in Khan Yunis governorate, in the south of the Gaza Strip, given the urgent need for water in light of the expansion and population growth. He explained that his municipality is facing a problem as a result of limited water resources, which do not meet the increasing needs of people, praising the efforts made by Qatar Charity to support the water sector by digging wells. Engineer Muhammad Abu Haloub, director of Qatar Charity's office in the Gaza Strip, said that Qatar Charity has started implementing projects in cooperation with PWA at the beginning of this year, noting that these projects include digging water wells in remote areas that suffer from water scarcity, as well as maintaining and rehabilitating sewage pumping stations in the Gaza Strip.Abu Haloub stressed that Qatar Charity is working hard to meet the population's water needs and the minimum requirements for a decent living in light of the widespread poverty and unemployment in the Gaza Strip. It is noteworthy that more than two million people in Gaza suffer from severe water shortages, difficult economic and living conditions, and dilapidated infrastructure. It is worth noting that Qatar Charity signed a memorandum of understanding with PWA in January, to implement developmental projects in the Gaza Strip.
