The second announcement was about the update of the All Under One Roof – Disability Inclusive Shelter and Settlements guidelines, a core sectoral resource. This guidance has been updated through a collaborative process which included shelter practitioners, disability experts and organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) under the leadership of the GSC working group for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Shelter and Settlements Programming. The guidance materials are now online and completely integrated with the GSC website, under the “resources” section. They are intended to offer practical recommendations to shelter actors that relate to programming across three main sections – mainstreaming disability inclusion into planning and implementing shelter and settlements responses, design recommendations for shelter and settlement interventions and considerations for different modes of delivery. After each of the subsections there are short downloadable checklists to help guide your activities. As the materials are now on the GSC website, it means they have the ability to be automatically translated into the relevant language and as such it is hoped, they will be more useful at country level. The All Under One Roof page also includes a platform for discussion and access to useful resources such as cases studies, which will continue to be updated. Please consider the page as your resource hub for all things related to disability inclusion in shelter and settlements.
