The East Africa Shelter Forum (EASF) is an event gathering humanitarian shelter and settlements practitioners and other local interested stakeholders working in the East and Horn of Africa region. Its first edition EASF#1 was held in Nairobi on 28 June, co-hosted by IOM and DRC, and followed the Shelter Projects Workshop – Learning from the Past. Based on the format of the UK Shelter Forum (http://www.shelterforum.info/), the EASF is an informal event with presentations and group discussions, a platform to discuss ideas, best practices and lessons learned from projects and initiatives in the region. Themes during the first edition included local building cultures, cash- and market-based programming, shelter-NFI coordination, community engagement, GBV risk mitigation in shelter and site planning, and beyond. The organizers of the first edition would like to handover to two interested agencies to co-host the next edition, to be held next year (location and date TBC). Contact: eashelterforum@gmail.com
