Qatar Charity lays foundation stone for health center in Kosovo

Qatar Charity (QC), with the support from benefactors in Qatar, laid the foundation stone for a health center in Kosovo in the presence of the Minister of Health Mr. Armend Zemaj, and the Ambassador of Qatar to Albania and Kosovo Ali bin Hamad Al-Marri. Besides, a cooperation agreement was signed between Qatar Charity and the municipality of Ferizaj to establish the center. The QAR 860,000 project is expected to benefit 4,000 persons. Qatar Charity will provide a fund of QAR 645,000 for the project, while the municipality will contribute the rest. Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Health Mr. Armend Zemaj, thanked the people in Qatar for their continuous assistance, especially for this health center, which will contribute to improving the basic health infrastructure in the region. He also thanked Qatar Charity for its uninterrupted cooperation with the municipalities. He indicated that the Qatari people have previously provided health assistance in the most challenging time of the coronavirus pandemic. The Ambassador of Qatar to Albania and Kosovo Ali bin Hamad Al-Marri affirmed special relations between the two countries and the Qatari and Kosovar peoples. “We in the State of Qatar attach great importance to strengthening relations with the Republic of Kosovo in the various fields,” said the minister. “Today, we are in this municipality to sign an agreement for a humanitarian project, which is a gift from the people of Qatar to our brothers in Kosovo through Qatar Charity.”He also noted the support provided by the State of Qatar to the Republic of Kosovo and its people over the years in the various sectors such as the health, education and housing, wishing for continued cooperation between the two countries.The mayor of the municipality, Mr. Agim Aliu, applauded the Emir, government and people of Qatar for providing assistance to their brothers in the Republic of Kosovo, praising the role of Qatar Charity in implementing the projects. He added that this is the timely project, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic. It is worth noting that Qatar Charity's projects for Kosovo cover different segments of society, benefiting orphans, people with special needs and low-income families. The number of those sponsored by Qatar Charity has reached nearly 3350. In the field of education and training, more than 5,000 people have benefited from the Qatar Training Center, which was established and is run by Qatar Charity.More than 500 income-generating projects and over 1000 water and sanitation projects have been implemented, while a housing complex is being built. The complex includes 40 homes for the poor, a clinic, a community center , and a school, in addition to shops.
