Cyclone FANI in India and Bangladesh

The Cyclone Fani Collection aimed at show a Disaster Management success story, especially in the states and districts located in the Bay of Bengal in both countries India and Bangladesh. In the last years, the authorities of the states and districts that were affected by the recent Cyclone Fani (between the 2nd and the 6th of May 2019), have not only developed meticulous guidelines and plans for strengthening preparedness for emergency response and recovery, but also have successfully put in practice. The resourcs in this collection draw atention on past experiences and tragedies, which nowdays are better mitigated due to the strengthning of local authorithies capacity for an effective response to natural disasters. Overall, this collection compiles resources from the last 10 years related with themes such as, evacuation, management and maintanace of multipurpose (Cyclone and floods) shelters, wanning systems, preparedness and eraly action among others. In addition, this collection includes resources from international ngo´s, which focuses on readiness and preparedness for extreme weather conditions affecting Rohingya refuggee camps and host communities in support of the efforts of the Emergency Management Authorities in both countries India and Bangladesh.
